I recently hired a lawyer to negotiate a settlement over a car accident. Since they’re lawyers and insurance companies, I couldn’t get a straight-forward answer from either of them unless I beat them with a rubber hose! If you’ve been in this situation, about how long did it take?
I realize it’s not the answer you want, but it takes as long as the insurance company wants it to. They can drag it on forever if they want.

I’m a paralegal and trust me, it takes forever. The insurance company wants all the records proving injuries or damages and the lawyers handle several hundred cases so can’t just work on yours. I would say if within 90 days after you get a lawyer no settlement has been reached, just have them file the lawsuit as it will take at least a year to get to court so might as well get started now. Be patient, the legal system does not move quickly!

it largely depends on the amount. i was in an accident (not my fault) i was pulled out by the ambulance. I had to go to recovery and my car was totaled not repairable. It took over three years for my attorneys to reach a settlement. my mother had an accident and the car was repairable and she had minor injuries she is getting her case settled next week and it was about two years
