    BA in Marketing?

Posted by admin on May 27th, 2010 and filed under negotiation skills | 2 Comments »

What does it actually take to become good in Marketing (career-wise ofcourse) ?

    I usually see in ads:

    -Good Communication Skills.
    -Excellent Communication
    -Influencing and negotiation skills
    -Self confidence and motivated
    -Computer Literate
    - BA graduate in Marketing ( Most of the companies, not all of them)

Plus good Marketing Research & Strategy.

I got no clue what Marketing Strategy is btw

Anyway, I need some bad a** advice in this….
    Very thankful in advance.

    = )

Marketing strategy is the intelligence (strategy) behind the plan of how to promote a product or brand. Basically, you need to grow your brand in order to make a profit, create revenue, earnings. So, how are you going to do that? Well, there are many different legs of marketing, the 4P’s are the basis, but within each one of those P’s there is a lot that needs to be considered. There is marketing research that helpds you collect the data in order to know where to go, but even before that, you need to first know, what do you need to know? in order to create strategy/plan for the research itself. Once you have information at your fingertips, then you have to start planning on how you are going to appeal to your potential and existing clients and how you are going to acquire new ones. Who they are, what methods would most likely work, how you are going to bring about those marketing efforts, how you are going to evaluate if it was successful or not, etc. etc.

So, you have to ask yourself, what areas of marketing do you like, what made you think of marketing? There are very number crunching type of jobs in marketing (like prices analysis and research analysis) or very creative jobs (such as advertising-related marketing) and everything in between.

First know what are your skills, what you would enjoy diong for the rest of your life and then, search within marketing the area that fits you most. Then, you go after the jobs that are specific to this area.

You are in a great place because you are just starting, if you gain a clear understanding of what you would like to go into, it’ll be much easier for you to start your studies concentrating ni that area so that you already create a path for yourself.

One more thing, very important, please talk to people that have the job you are thinking of having. Ask them what their day-to-day looks like, what are their pros and cons in their jobs. Why they got into it. etc.
    Good luck.

    Ok, my question here is…

I have no background in marketing or sales whatsoever…But…
Did a few month work as an Assistant. I’m so determined, motivated, & a hard worker (honestly)
    Should I apply ?

Wow! I’d hire you! I don’t see why you shouldn’t apply. Never tell yourself "no", let someone else do that! If you talk yourself out of something before you even try, you may miss something really BIG!

My husband is actually looking for some real go-getters who are comfortable with talking with people. He works for a company called Send Out Cards. They specialize in helping small business owners stay in touch with their current and prospective customers. There’s a big potential for you to make some really good money, too! Even if you’ve never done sales before (which was my husband), there are people to help you become successful every step of the way! If you’re interested, check out sendoutcards.com and e-mail scottcunningham@sendoutcards.com.

Yes, yes, the passing isn’t the problem. the desire is to have the republicans vote for it too., so we can have bipartisan support. When the republicans vote against it they are sealing their fate in the next election
