Our real estate agent says that builders are not open to negotiating their price but would be open to negotiation with respect to upgrades. Is this true or is our agent pulling a fast one?
Your agent might be honest, but ignorant. Yes, you can expect there to be a 25% reduction if your agent is good. Sadly, yours isn’t. Always have your own, never use the builders agent.
I’m applying for an assistant producers/news writer position and i’m curious about the starting salary? what should i expect? i’m applying to work at a station in a smaller market. They are an abc affiliate in the CT/NY area? I have 2 internships behind me and 3 yrs wokring as a production assistant so i do have a decent amount of experince and the right degrees from the right schools etc … i just do not want to be low balled in the salary negotiation process,
Hi Miacrash,
Good luck on getting the job. I just landed a similar job as a news editor at a radio station in California. If I were you, I’d shoot for $32,000. Here’s a pretty good article on journalism salaries: http://www.collegejournal.com/salarydata/journalism/
Cheers,

The employer finds out through your internet and personal email activity. Also, working with the company for only a couple of weeks. Will they fire you or make you in a uncomfortable position that you will quit?
They could. Using the company resources (IE computer, or phone) for personal activity is generally against company policy. If they wanted, they could use that as reason to terminate you. Most companies won’t do that for minor personal emails etc, but if they are looking for an excuse to let you go, that could be it.
It’s best to use your cell phone for those calls, your personal computer for sending resumes etc, and personal time for interviewing. That way your current employer will have no idea what you are up to, and will have no grounds to let you go over that.
I have lots of interest in how to tell if people are lying, and I know a fair amount. I want to start a blog about this, and I’m trying to decide how. I’ve seen some from an academic point of view, while others are more about current events, like is the latest accused murdered lying. I also thought of expanding it to things about body language not related to lying and/or techniques for negotiation. What angle will get the best following that is sustainable?
Negotiation because it’s a lot more indirect. Negotiation is focusing on getting what you want, therefore conviction and even sales. A lie is a sale. A lie is negotiation. It’s getting people to believe your side and the more you want them to believe, the more detail you will add, the more you will embellish your story. I work in sales. If I want to sell well, I go into graphic detail and scientific fact, if that fails I start to negotiate subtly. Asking for preferences, what kind of smell do you like (lotion), what consistency, what were you looking for it to do. We have this and that but it lacks this other thing, BUT I can get you… Blah blah. A person sells based on the amount they know and how positive and convincing they are. My boss was selling 80$ face cream, back in the 90’s when she was 17. She pretended to know what she was talking about

The Clone Wars have been ravaging the galaxy for more than two years. Thousands of star systems have seceded from the Galactic Republic. The future of democracy is at stake.
However, the Separatist world of Metalorn is considering rejoining the Republic. Because of its immense industrial power and potential, this is one opportunity the Senate cannot afford to miss.
As four Jedi are sent to Metalorn to negotiate for the planet’s allegiance, they are unaware that a Jedi who had been presumed dead is alive and allied with the Sith….

FAQ:
Q: wat progam did u us 4 lite saburs
A: Good God, learn how to spell! And I didn’t make them; spugesdu did. Ask him, ok?
Q: Mind if I pretentiously count off the things that are good and bad with this movie?
A: Yes; please don’t. (Actually, people don’t bother asking, but I figured it couldn’t hurt.)
Q: Will there be a sequel?
A: Probably not. I don’t like running an idea into the ground (unless it’s something breathtakingly fresh and original like prank calls) and, given the ending, there’s not much room for a sequel.
**UPDATE**: I thought of an idea for a sequel that only stars a couple of the same characters. Maybe I’ll make it, maybe I won’t.
